Lt. Drake served with the 2nd Marine Division and died when his plane crashed. He is listed as Missing in Action or Buried at Sea on the Tablets of the Missing at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
