His bomber group was based in Leyte, and he was on a B-24 Liberator that didn’t return from a run in the South China Sea. He received the Air Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, a Purple Heart, an American Campaign Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal. He is listed as Missing in Action or Buried at Sea. His name, along with those of many others, is inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing at the Manila American Cemetery, Manila, Philippines, which is 162 acres, 6 miles SE of Manila’s downtown, south of what used to be Ft. William McKinley.
