Sgt. Brons served with the 40th Squadron, 317th Troop Carrier Group. He served as a radar man and navigator with the Army Air Transport Command. Col. Brons died on Luzon Island of a liver ailment. He is buried at Manila American Cemetery, Manila, Philippines, Plot D Row 7 Grave 112. He was awarded the Air Medal.
