In Memoriam: Dr. Paul Magelli, Sr.

Dr. Paul Magelli, Sr., ’59 LAS, MS ’60 BUS, PHD ’65 BUS, was a beloved professor and senior director of the Illinois’ College of Business. Throughout his career, Paul pursued and held various positions in higher-education; the impact he had on those he met and taught is incalculable.

Much of the affect Paul had on those around him was greatly influenced by the positivity he showed during personal tribulations. Diagnosed with a heart problem in his forties, a 79-year-old Paul aspired to ascend the boundaries of his condition and climb Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Over the course of his career, and in addition to his instructional pursuits, Paul has helped raise nearly $50 million for a number of foundations. Paul passed away peacefully on Dec. 6, 2016, at age 85.
