I’s on the World: Maine Meet-up

Oh, the places we go … University of Illinois alumni are globetrotters who travel near and far, but never forget their Alma Mater!

Oh, the places we go … University of Illinois alumni are globetrotters who travel near and far, but never forget their Alma Mater!

Holly Rosencranz, ’78 LAS, MD ’82 UIC, and spouse Warren Lavey, U of I adjunct professor of law, were hiking in Maine’s Acadia National Park in May 2022 when they “met by chance and became immediate friends with” a group of recent Illinois alumni—Falguni Deshpande, ’21 AHS; Zoriamin Rivera, ’20 LAS; Alyssa Thurman, ’21 LAS,; and Rebecca Ward, ’20 LAS.

“We shared our love of the outdoors, and the region’s amazing flora and fauna,” Rosencranz says. “The rocky shoreline and views of the Atlantic were a dramatic change from the Illinois prairie and offered a wonderful vacation spot for all.” The fifth smallest national park in the U.S., Acadia welcomes more than 3 million visitors annually.
