The University of Illinois community mourns the loss of Jennifer Dillavou, a beacon of leadership, commitment, and fervor for our university and its alumni. As the pioneering female president of the University of Illinois Alumni Association (UIAA), Jennifer’s legacy is one of groundbreaking achievements and heartfelt dedication to the Illini family. To honor her memory and continue the work she so passionately believed in, we have established the Jennifer Dillavou Scholarship Fund.
Jennifer’s Journey with Illinois
Jennifer’s bond with the University of Illinois was deep-rooted and personal. A native of Champaign, she not only pursued her undergraduate degree here at the College of Education in 1982 but also embarked on her distinguished career in higher education with the University of Illinois Foundation. Though her professional path took her to various leadership positions across the country, Jennifer’s heart always remained with Illinois. Her return to serve as UIAA’s president was a homecoming.

Jennifer was not just the first woman to lead the UIAA; she was a tireless champion for our students and alumni. Her joy in welcoming new graduates into our global alumni family each spring underscored her commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders.
The Jennifer Dillavou Scholarship Fund
In memory of Jennifer’s indelible impact, the Jennifer Dillavou Scholarship Fund aims to support students who embody her spirit of leadership and dedication. This fund will provide scholarships to students involved with the Student Alumni Ambassadors (SAA), IlliniThon (Dance Marathon), Alpha Gamma Delta, or the College of Education, focusing on those who demonstrate academic merit and financial need.
