Major Bloom served with the 325th Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. He is buried at Normandy American Cemetery, St. Laurent-sur-Mer, France, at Plot C Row 9 Grave 8. He was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart.
