Cpl. O’Keefe served with the 196th Field Artillery Battalion, X Corps. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea. Cpl. O’Keefe earned the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, United Nations Service Medal, and Republic of Korea War Service Medal. He is buried at All Saints Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum, Des Plaines, Illinois.
