19. Orange Krush

Let’s hear it for the cheering section. At men’s home basketball games, they embody school spirit, but members of Orange Krush have more than fun and games in mind. Fact is, Orange Krush is also a charitable organization operating under the auspices of the Orange Krush Foundation, established in 1998. Pledges collected by members—including proceeds from donors who pay a dime for every 3-point shot the Illini land per season—are donated to charities. Last season alone, Krush raised more than $150,000. Nevertheless, Oranges will be Oranges. Their penchant for disguising themselves in order to “invade” away games has prompted some Big Ten universities to restrict ticket sales.
