KCPA Amphitheater

A raw white semicircle of concrete on the contemporary red brick of Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, this outdoor theater rises steeply through nine tiers of seating arranged around a performing space of cobbled red blocks. A vivid—even haunting—reminder of modern theater’s distant origins in the theater of classical Greece, the amphitheater is best viewed from across Goodwin Avenue, where it aligns perfectly with the Daniel Street path to the Quad. Even better, go see a performance here. Though not used as prolifically as Krannert’s four indoor theaters, this venue does host summer musical performances, student productions and winter light displays.
