Oh, the places we go … University of Illinois alumni are globetrotters who travel near and far, but never forget their Alma Mater!

When Peter Karamitsos, ’84 BUS, appeared on Jeopardy! last March, the stakes were much higher than merely winning. “I told the show that if I won, I’d take my family to Greece,” he says. “I won two episodes, and so we went!”

Karamitsos journeyed to Greece with his wife, Maria, and their two daughters, Eleni and Angeliki. The family spent time in the mainland cities of Olympia and Kalamata visiting relatives. On the Island of Crete, they visited the Heraklion Archeological Museum and the vineyards of the Anoskeli Winery. They also saw the world’s oldest olive tree (estimated 2,000 to 4,000 years old) in Vouves.
