Super-manager Irving Azoff named inductee to the Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame

The 2020 inductees to the Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame include Irving AzoffATTENDEE, who as a U of I student managed area rock music notables REO Speedwagon and Dan FogelbergATTENDEE. His promotional work with icons of classic rock—most notably the Eagles—is often credited as a key ingredient for their superstar success. Azoff will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award—named to honor the legendary co-founder of Atlantic Records—that recognizes the contributions of producers, deejays, record executives and other industry professionals of major influence. Azoff parlayed his music success into a Hollywood career during which he co-produced defining ’80s movie such as Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Urban Cowboy.
