During the month of September, Illini Clubs are encouraged to host a formal networking event to help build stronger relationships between our alumni and welcome recent graduates to their cities/regions. For these networking events, we strongly recommend having a structured networking exercise to facilitate conversations and relationship building amongst our alumni. We have networking resources available here for your event.

The UIAA will provide additional promotional support via social media, the August edition of the Alumni Engagement Digest e-newsletter, and a dedicated landing page that lists all club networking events. The UIAA will also provided swag items that are specifically for this initiative.

Please consider utilizing your reimbursable funding to provide food, beverage, and door prizes to your attendees.

After a very successful FY26, the UIAA is making some updates to the existing tier system structure beginning on July 1, 2026.

Gamewatch will now be it’s own category separate from Athletics. Athletics event category will be centered around events such as pre-game tailgates and professional or Illinois sports outings.

To achieve Main Quad status, Illini Clubs will need to host 4 events reflecting 4 unique Constituent Journey event categories. Previously, Illini Clubs were required to host 4 events reflecting 3 unique Constituent Journey event categories. Illini Union and Morrow Plots event requirements will remain the same

Lifestyle and Hobbies will be a new event category Board game night, Trivia night, Cooking Classes, Escape Room outings, and more.

The form to submit your QR code postcard request for your upcoming 2026 football gamewatch events is now live. Full details regarding this program are outlined on the form page. All Illini Clubs are encouraged to participate in this program for the upcoming season. In addition to the weekly prize pack drawing, we will again be drawing a grand prize winner for a custom Illinois football jersey at the conclusion of the season.

The University of Illinois Alumni Association has established the Jennifer Dillavou Memorial Fund Scholarship for current students. The Jennifer Dillavou Memorial Fund Scholarship honors a true Illini trailblazer. Jennifer Dillavou was a proud College of Education graduate, Champaign native, and the first woman to lead the University of Illinois Alumni Association. She dedicated her life to uplifting students and building community. Now, her legacy lives on through this scholarship.

Students who are affiliated with at least one of the following are encouraged to apply to this scholarship opportunity: Alpha Gamma Delta, IlliniThon Dance Marathon, Student Alumni Ambassadors, or the College of Education. Furthermore, students should demonstrate academic merit and financial need.

The deadline to apply is April 1, 2026.

The University of Illinois Alumni Association’s new clubs program (aka tier system) will launch on July 1, 2022.  Beginning on that date, domestic regional, affinity, and identity clubs may begin to participate in the tier system by following the established guidelines and leveraging the offered resources.  For those clubs who have already notified the UIAA of their intention to participate in this new clubs program, we thank you for being tremendous partners to our organization and we look forward to working with your club to expand your audience. 

For clubs who plan to participate, please notify Tyler Gagai at gagai@uillinois.edu of your club’s intention to participate.   Conversely, if your club has decided to not participate in this program, please notify Tyler of your club’s intention to opt-out.

If your club is located outside of the United States, please note that the UIAA is unable to extend tier system resources to your club at this time.  However, the UIAA does encourage international alumni clubs to utilize our events information resource as a means of gathering ideas for events that will reach different constituencies.

Any important updates will be highlighted as announcements (as you are reading now).   Please note announcements will include but not limited to the following:

• Updates and changes to tier system resources and guidelines
• University of Illinois athletic schedules as they become available (this includes all DIA sports)
